Instrumentation and Control Technician

A commercial explosives manufacturer is hiring an Instrument and Controls Technician to run the plant’s DeltaV control systems and process instrumentation. You’ll be the go-to person for keeping controls reliable, safe, and up to date.

What you’ll do

• Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain flowmeters, control valves, transmitters, and analyzers across HART, Fieldbus, and other platforms
• Keep DeltaV current with firmware updates, lifecycle management, OS upgrades, service packs, and patches
• Maintain virus protection, network security, and user management
• Manage control system configuration libraries and standards
• Configure alarm attributes and logging, and support alarm rationalization
• Develop loop functional specs, control strategy documentation, and loop drawings
• Monitor and tune loop performance with Emerson Insight
• Work with E&I on preventive maintenance and use ValveLink to plan outages and cut unplanned downtime

What you’ll need

• Strong, hands-on DeltaV experience
• Solid background in process plant instrumentation
• Associate’s degree in engineering, automation, electrical technology, or a related field, or 5+ years in industrial automation or controls
• Experience configuring HMI systems and working knowledge of industrial networking
• Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (ISA 84 / IEC 61511)
• Experience with SQL Server, MS Access, or other industrial databases
• A positive, team-first attitude

Nice to have

• Chemical plant experience (most desirable)
• PSM knowledge
• PLC experience (DCS is the priority)
