What they need
We’re Hiring: Insurance Associate Manager | Al Khayyat Investments (AKI)
Al Khayyat Investments (AKI) is establishing a centralized Group Insurance Management function to oversee and optimize all insurance policies and claims across its diversified business operations.
The Insurance Associate Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the Group's insurance portfolio, with particular emphasis on technical policy wording analysis, coverage enhancement, claims management, renewal negotiations, and cost optimization.
The successful candidate must possess strong technical insurance knowledge and the ability to independently review, challenge, and negotiate insurance policy terms to safeguard the Group's interests.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Insurance Policy Management & Coverage Enhancement
- Manage all Group insurance policies, including Medical, Motor Fleet, Property All Risks, Business Interruption, General Liability, Fidelity, Money in Transit, Group Life, Marine Cargo, and other applicable insurance lines.
- Thoroughly review, interpret, and analyze insurance policy wordings, including clauses, exclusions, warranties, deductibles, limits, and endorsements.
- Identify coverage gaps, restrictive conditions, and potential risks, and proactively negotiate wording enhancements and improved protection.
- Continuously assess existing insurance arrangements to ensure adequate coverage across all AKI entities, employees, assets, and operations.
- Maintain a centralized insurance register covering policies, premiums, coverage details, and renewal dates.
B. Claims Management & Recovery
- Act as the single focal point for all insurance claims across every line of insurance within the Group.
- Take full ownership of claims from initial notification through documentation, assessment, negotiation, settlement, and final recovery.
- Coordinate with insurers, brokers, loss adjusters, and internal departments to ensure timely and effective claim resolution.
- Challenge unjustified claim rejections, deductions, and settlement delays to maximize legitimate recoveries.
- Maintain a centralized claims tracker and provide regular updates on outstanding claims, settlement progress, and recoveries.
C. Insurance Renewals & Negotiations
- Lead insurance renewal processes, including market benchmarking, tendering, technical evaluation, and commercial negotiations.
- Negotiate competitive premiums, improved coverage, favorable policy wordings, and enhanced terms and conditions.
- Prepare comparative evaluations of insurance quotations, highlighting coverage differences, exclusions, financial implications, and recommendations.
- Ensure timely policy renewals without coverage interruptions.
D. Financial Management & Reporting
- Coordinate with Finance on premium payments, claims reimbursements, credit notes, and financial reconciliations.
- Monitor insurance expenditure, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support annual budget preparation.
- Prepare periodic management reports covering insurance costs, claims status, recoveries, renewals, coverage gaps, and achieved savings.
E. Establishment of the New Insurance Function
- Develop and implement centralized insurance procedures, controls, and reporting mechanisms.
- Establish standardized processes for policy reviews, renewals, claims handling, and escalation.
- Work closely with HR, Finance, Fleet, Facilities, Legal, and business divisions to identify and address insurance requirements.
- Proactively recommend improvements to insurance governance, risk protection, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant insurance experience, preferably within a large corporate group, insurance company, or established brokerage.
- Mandatory hands-on experience in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and negotiating insurance policy wordings and coverage enhancements.
- Proven experience managing multiple insurance lines, particularly Medical, Motor Fleet, Property, and General Insurance.
- Strong track record in end-to-end claims management, claims recovery, and insurance renewal negotiations.
- Sound knowledge of the UAE insurance market, regulatory requirements, and insurance practices.
- Professional insurance qualifications such as CII, ACII, or equivalent are an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and reporting skills.
Key Position Expectations:
- AKI is seeking a technically strong, commercially driven, and proactive insurance professional capable of independently managing the Group's insurance portfolio.
- This is not an administrative insurance coordination role. The candidate must demonstrate the technical expertise to critically assess insurance policy wordings, identify weaknesses, negotiate enhanced coverage, manage complex claims, and ensure maximum protection of AKI's financial and operational interests.
The successful candidate will be expected to take full ownership of this newly established function and deliver measurable improvements in insurance coverage, claims recovery, cost efficiency, and governance.
