INSURANCE VERIFICATION REPRESENTATIVE

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Insurance Verification Representative to join our dynamic healthcare billing team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying coverage for office appointments to ensure patient’s coverage is active, in network, and entered correctly in our billing system. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycle processes, reduce outstanding balances, and improve overall cash flow. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, is accountable and thrives in a fast-paced environment dedicated to accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Use software and payer portals to confirm coverage is active and insurance details on file are correct
• Contact patients with inactive or out of network insurance
• Contact insurance companies via phone and portal chat to confirm coverage and benefit details
• Manage assigned portion of the schedule and all appointments therein
• Notice and communicate about insurance trends
• Learn the network status with different insurance plans and be a resource to other departments regarding network status
• Evaluate if the insurance plan requires a referral and confirm referrals are on file.
• Stay updated on industry regulations, payer policies, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement opportunities.
• Collaborate with billing staff, front desk staff, scheduling department and members of the clinical team
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and collection strategies within a healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in payer portals
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation management
• Strong documentation skills
• Ability to analyze insurance plan types and plan requirements
• Effective communication skills for liaising with payers, providers, and patients professionally.
• Provide education to team members on insurance trends, updates, and network statuses.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
