What they need

Integrated Scheduler

Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next- generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies’ core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.

This role is part of our Maritime Defense Systems business, which delivers integrated solutions with decades of proven performance across submarine, surface, and autonomous naval platforms supporting high-priority national defense programs. Our bow-to-stern capabilities include acoustic and sonar protection systems, propulsion systems, advanced composite structures, missile subsystems, canisters and launchers, and autonomous underwater vehicle subsystems. From concept through production, we combine engineering, materials expertise, specialized manufacturing, and large-scale testing to deliver mission-ready systems that reduce technical risk and support long-term operational performance.

The Integrated Scheduler plays a central role in building and maintaining the enterprise-level schedules that drive program execution, production sequencing, financial forecasting, and cross-functional coordination. This position ensures schedule accuracy and consistency across programs, supports Program Schedulers, integrates ERP (enterprise resource planning) and production data, and provides leadership with clear visibility into workload, capacity constraints, resource needs, and schedule risks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and governs enterprise scheduling standards, templates, coding structures, calendars, milestones, and work breakdown structures to ensure consistency across program schedules.
  • Oversees schedule development and updates in Microsoft Project and Project Server, ensuring schedules are logically linked, resource-loaded, baselined, and aligned with program execution requirements.
  • Reviews schedules submitted by Program Schedulers and provides corrective feedback to strengthen logic, sequencing, resource loading, and realism.
  • Provides mentoring and technical support to Program Schedulers and assists Program Managers with integrated master schedule development and schedule recovery efforts.
  • Translates program schedules into actionable production schedules and coordinates with Operations to align manufacturing sequences, production rates, and work‑center requirements.
  • Integrates ERP actuals—including labor hours, material costs, and other performance data—into schedule analysis to improve forecasting and variance identification.
  • Develops and maintains full-time equivalent (FTE) manpower plans and resource-capacity models to forecast staffing needs and identify future shortages or excess capacity.
  • Performs critical-path and near-critical-path analysis, identifies schedule risks and constraints, and develops recovery plans or alternative execution scenarios.
  • Supports cross-functional planning by ensuring schedule integration across Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Facilities, and other functional teams.
  • Provides management with accurate schedule-driven forecast dates, workload projections, and visibility into emerging risks and capacity constraints.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business, engineering, operations management, supply chain, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in project scheduling, project controls, production planning, manufacturing scheduling, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Project and enterprise scheduling systems.
  • Strong understanding of Project Server or enterprise project management environments.
  • Experience developing and maintaining integrated master schedules.
  • Experience with resource-loaded schedules and manpower planning.
  • Strong Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, lookups, and schedule or resource reporting.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and incorporating actual labor hours and costs into project or production analysis.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate it into actionable information for Program Managers and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing or production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience integrating Microsoft Project or Project Server with ERP actuals.
  • Experience with PDM (product data management) and MRP (material requirements planning) systems and work-order processes.
  • Experience with composite manufacturing, aerospace or defense, shipbuilding, or other engineered‑to‑order production environments.
  • Experience with resource constrained scheduling.
  • Experience developing manpower or capacity models.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) or other project controls methodologies.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional), PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional), or similar certifications.
  • Advanced Excel, Power BI, or related data visualization or reporting experience.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with company contribution
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • Company‑paid life and AD&D insurance
  • Short‑ and long‑term disability coverage
  • Tuition reimbursement
