Interconnection Facilities Engineer

About the Role

The IF Engineer (Civil) leads the end-to-end design coordination, site execution, and regulatory compliance for civil infrastructure supporting high-voltage (132kV+) interconnection facilities across our solar portfolio. You will serve as the primary civil bridge between site contractors and utility stakeholders (TNB/JKR) to ensure seamless pre-energization handover.

Core Responsibilities

• Design Coordination: Review and validate civil/structural packages (substations, foundations, cable trenches, drainage, access roads) against TNB civil standards and JKR regulations. Resolve layout clashes with electrical engineering teams.
• Site Execution: Supervise on-site earthworks, piling, concrete pouring, slope protection, and equipment bases. Enforce safety, quality (ITPs), and Method Statements.
• Utility & Authority Interface: Lead technical walk-downs and resolve civil comments with TNB Grid teams, JKR, and local councils to secure energization approvals.
• Interface & Schedule Alignment: Synchronize civil completions with major electromechanical milestones (transformers, gantry erection, cable pulling) to protect target energization dates.
• Project Handover: Manage as-built submissions, civil completion sign-offs, and pre-energization documentation.

Key Requirements

• Education: Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEM registration preferred).
• Experience: 3–6+ years in civil engineering, specifically on 132kV+ substations, transmission, or utility-scale renewable projects .
• Utility Track Record: Direct experience working with TNB Grid (Development/Maintenance) civil standards and local authority (JKR/DID) submissions.
• Technical Skills: Strong grasp of geotechnical reports, foundation design (pad/pile), site drainage, Method Statements, and QA/QC controls.
• Attributes: Proactive problem solver with solid contractor management skills and willingness to travel to project sites across Malaysia.
