What they need

A growing U.S. energy developer is seeking an Interconnection Manager to lead interconnection execution for utility-scale and distribution-connected battery storage projects, from application and studies through agreements, construction, energization, and commercial operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, transmission owners, engineers, EPCs, equipment suppliers, and consultants.
  • Lead interconnection applications, technical submissions, studies, agreements, deposits, and utility requirements.
  • Manage transmission- and distribution-level processes, including system-impact, facilities, affected-system, feeder, and substation studies.
  • Track schedules, milestones, financial security, upgrade costs, contractual obligations, and project risks.
  • Review study results and assess impacts on project cost, schedule, design, and commercial viability.
  • Coordinate inverter/plant models, equipment data, protection and controls, SCADA, metering, testing, and energization.
  • Maintain accurate project trackers and obligations matrices while supporting development, financing, procurement, and construction.
  • Proactively identify and escalate technical, commercial, schedule, and compliance risks with recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in generator interconnection, transmission/distribution planning, utility engineering, consulting, or power development.
  • Direct experience with U.S. utilities, ISOs/RTOs, transmission owners, or balancing authorities; SPP and/or ERCOT preferred.
  • Experience with BESS, inverter-based resources, or generation projects requiring utility and equipment-model coordination.
  • Ability to interpret technical studies, single-line diagrams, equipment data, models, and interconnection agreements.
  • Strong project-management, organization, communication, and deadline-management skills.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into commercial and development implications.
  • Engineering or related bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.

First-Year Success

  • Deliver accurate applications, models, and submissions on schedule.
  • Maintain clear visibility into queue status, costs, risks, milestones, and obligations.
  • Proactively resolve issues impacting development, financing, energization, or COD.
  • Establish a smooth handoff from interconnection through construction and operations.
