Interim Financial Controller

About Our Client
Our client is a logistics and infrastructure business based in Melbourne. This is an opportunity to step into a senior leadership position at a pivotal moment to cover a key position. We are looking for an Interim Group Financial Controller for a 3–6-month engagement, to start immediately.

The Role
This role requires a hands-on senior finance leader, who will take accountability for the finance function, spanning financial reporting, compliance, internal controls and team leadership, as well as providing commercial insight and operational rigour needed to drive sound decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness and adherence to reporting timelines.
• Manage year-end and external audit processes, including resolution of audit findings.
• Maintain and strengthen the internal control environment, balance sheet integrity and financial governance frameworks.
• Manage statutory and taxation obligations including Income Tax, BAS, FBT and Payroll Tax.
• Oversee finance systems and the integrity of end-to-end transaction flows into the general ledger.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance and accountable culture.
• Partner with the executive team and operational leaders on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and capital expenditure.

What You'll Bring

• CA or CPA qualified, with strong technical accounting knowledge across financial reporting, statutory compliance and tax.
• Experience as a Financial Controller within logistics, transport or industrial, infrastructure heavy asset environments
• Proven experience managing external audits and delivering to tight reporting timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment.

This is a 3–6 month contract position, to start immediately. To be eligible, you must be available immediately or on short notice, have full Australian work rights without restrictions for the duration of the contract, and be based in or willing to commute to outer Melbourne.
