Interim Financial Controller

Our client is a manufacturing and distribution company undergoing a significant period of change and transformation. To support this process, we are assisting with the appointment of an Interim Financial Controller.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate and timely reporting, effective cash management, and commercially relevant insight for the leadership team.

The role will oversee month-end reporting, management accounts, board reporting, profitability analysis, cash forecasting, credit control, balance-sheet management, budgeting, payroll, tax and statutory compliance. It will also involve managing a small finance team, strengthening systems and processes, delivering finance projects, and providing commercially focused advice to the Managing Director and leadership team.

You will be a qualified accountant with at least eight years’ post-qualified experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing, retail, trading, or similarly high-volume operational environment. You will bring strong technical accounting and financial control expertise, together with proven experience preparing management accounts and board packs and a sound commercial understanding of margins and product and customer profitability.

Experience of cash flow management, working capital and credit control is essential, as is the ability to lead a small team, establish effective processes and promote accountability. You will have a hands-on, pragmatic, and delivery-focused approach, with excellent communication skills and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders.
