Interim General Counsel

Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim General Counsel:

Overview : Interim General Counsel (30 hours/week)

Company: An insurance company led by seasoned investors and industry veterans.

Experience: Ten or more years of legal experience, including at least five years of experience with the U.S. insurance industry and insurance regulatory matters.

Location: Remote

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead corporate governance, corporate legal matters, and internal compliance initiatives.
• Lead insurance regulatory and compliance matters, including suitability, policy wordings and endorsements, applications, policyholder notices, ancillary agreements and advertising and marketing.
• Liaise with state regulators and support regulatory inquiries and filings.
• Draft, review, and negotiate general business contracts and advise internal stakeholders on legal risks.
• Conduct legal research and prepare internal legal memoranda.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the business.
• Assist with broader legal, regulatory, and corporate projects as assigned.

BACKGROUND

• JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in at least one state.
• Ten or more years of legal experience, including at least five years of experience with the U.S. insurance industry and insurance regulatory matters.
• Demonstrated experience in:
• corporate governance and record keeping.
• annuity and life insurance company filings and compliance.
• interacting with state insurance regulators; and
• drafting and negotiating a wide range of business contracts.

Pay Rate: $135/Hour

Individual compensation offered for this position within the pay range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
