Interim Highways Engineering Manager

Starfish Search are supporting a local authority in London on the appointment of an Interim Highways Engineering Manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead an in-house highways and transport design team.
• Oversee the design of highways, traffic, public realm and active travel schemes.
• Ensure technical quality and compliance with highway design standards and CDM regulations.
• Manage project budgets, programmes and external consultants.
• Oversee capital projects, including TfL-funded and developer-funded schemes.
• Manage Section 278 and Section 38 highway works.
• Engage with TfL, developers, elected Members and other stakeholders.

About you:

• Significant experience in highways engineering or design, ideally within local government.
• Proven experience managing engineering teams and delivering capital programmes.
• Strong knowledge of highway design standards and relevant legislation.
• Experience managing budgets, consultants and stakeholder relationships.

Please note: This is a six-month interim assignment, requiring three days per week in the office.
