Interim Senior Construction Accountant

A great UHY client is seeking an Interim Senior Construction Accountant . The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on general ledger and month-end close experience, construction accounting knowledge, and proven expertise in balance sheet reconciliations and accounting cleanup.

The Interim Senior Construction Accountant role is a temporary consulting position. This is a onsite position.

Interim Senior Construction Accountant Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and accounting cleanup.
• Manage general ledger activities and support month-end close processes.
• Research, identify, and resolve historical accounting discrepancies and outstanding issues.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and review prepaids, credit cards, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
• Support construction-related accounting activities, including lien waivers, lien rights, mechanics liens, and related documentation.
• Assist with day-to-day accounting activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and procedures.
• Help establish practical and efficient approaches to reconciliations, cleanup, and close activities.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to research accounting issues and implement effective solutions.
• Work independently, prioritize assignments, and quickly become productive within an existing accounting environment.
• Provide hands-on support across accounting functions as needed.

Interim Senior Construction Accountant Requirements

• Senior Accountant through Controller-level accounting experience with a willingness to remain hands-on.
• Proven project-based, consulting, or interim accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience.
• Construction accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with balance sheet reconciliations and accounting cleanup.
• Experience with intercompany reconciliations, prepaids, credit cards, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Working knowledge of construction accounting practices, including lien waivers, lien rights, and mechanics liens.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve historical accounting issues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and quickly assess an unfamiliar accounting environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate financial reporting.
• Process-improvement mindset with the ability to balance process optimization with day-to-day accounting execution.
• Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of accounting responsibilities regardless of prior title or level.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
