Interior Design Assistant

About the Role

Bridget Catherine Interiors is seeking a full-time Interior Design Assistant to join our growing residential design studio in Morristown, NJ.

This is an ideal opportunity for an emerging designer with 0–3 years of experience who is eager to gain hands-on experience across all phases of the interior design process. The Design Assistant will work closely with the Principal Designer and assist with everything from sourcing and design development to project documentation, site visits, installations, and day-to-day studio organization.

We are looking for someone who is positive, proactive, highly organized, and genuinely excited to learn and grow within a small, fast-paced design studio!

Responsibilities:

Design & Sourcing

• Source furniture, lighting, fabrics, finishes, and materials
• Assist with design presentations, material selections, and drafting
• Request samples, pricing, and product information from vendors

Project Coordination

• Create and maintain project schedules, specifications, and documentation
• Assist with generating client proposals and preparing approved selections for purchasing
• Organize product information, quotes, and project files
• Communicate with vendors, showrooms, and trades as needed

Site & Installation Support

• Attend site visits, vendor meetings, and showroom appointments
• Assist with measurements, documentation, and installation days

Studio Support

• Maintain the sample library and studio organization
• Assist with receiving and organizing project materials
• Provide general project and studio support as needed

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of professional interior design experience
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Interior Design preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
• Experience with a professional drafting program required
• Chief Architect experience strongly preferred; AutoCAD or Revit experience also welcome
• Experience with Houzz Pro and/or Studio Designer is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable communicating professionally with clients, vendors, contractors, and trades
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to travel locally for site visits, vendor appointments, and installations

Because this is a client-facing role, professionalism and communication are especially important. We're looking for someone who is personable, polished, and comfortable interacting with clients, vendors, contractors, and other members of the project team.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is excited to learn, wants meaningful hands-on experience, and is interested in growing alongside a residential interior design studio!
