Interior Designer

Interior Designer - responsible for plans, designs, and improves indoor spaces to make them attractive, comfortable, functional, and safe. They work on residential homes, hotels, restaurants, offices, resorts, and other commercial buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.) Space Planning – Plan and organize interior layouts to maximize space utilization, accessibility, and functionality.

2. Design Development – Develop design concepts, floor plans, mood boards, and 3D visualizations based on client preferences.

3. Material and Furniture Selection – Select appropriate furniture, fixtures, lighting, colors, fabrics, finishes, and decorative materials.

4. Client Consultation – Meet with clients to understand their design requirements, preferences, expectations, and budget.

5. Budget Management – Prepare cost estimates, monitor design expenses, and recommend cost-effective materials and solutions.

6. Project Coordination – Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other professionals to implement the design.

7. Technical Drawing Preparation – Prepare detailed layouts, measurements, specifications, and design drawings for project execution.

8. Site Inspection and Monitoring – Visit project sites to monitor progress and ensure that the work follows the approved design plans.

9. Quality Control – Check the quality of materials, furniture, finishes, and installation to ensure they meet the required standards.

10. Safety and Compliance – Ensure that interior designs consider applicable building codes, fire safety requirements, accessibility, and other relevant regulations.

11. Supplier Coordination – Source materials, request quotations, compare suppliers, and coordinate deliveries and installations.

12. Project Scheduling – Establish timelines, monitor deadlines, and coordinate activities to support the timely completion of projects.

13. Design Documentation – Maintain project records, drawings, material specifications, budgets, revisions, and client approvals.

14. Final Inspection and Turnover – Inspect the completed space, identify deficiencies, coordinate corrections, and ensure the project is ready for client handover.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field.

• Knowledge of interior design principles, space planning, color theory, lighting, and material selection.

• Professional license or registration, if required for the position and scope of work under applicable regulations.

• Preferably 3–5 years of experience in interior design, space planning, or related work.

• Experience handling residential, commercial, hospitality, or office design projects is an advantage.

• Experience coordinating with contractors, suppliers, architects, and clients.

• Fresh graduates with a strong portfolio may also be considered for entry-level positions.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design software.

• Knowledge of 3D rendering tools and presentation software.

• Ability to prepare floor plans, technical drawings, design layouts, and material specifications.

• Understanding of furniture arrangement, lighting design, construction materials, and interior finishes.

• Ability to prepare cost estimates and monitor project budgets.
