Interior Designer/Drafter

Location: Koloa, HI - office-based on Kauai, with client meetings often held via Zoom

Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 annually, based on experience

Bring your design judgment, drafting skills, and attention to detail to Hawaiian Design + Build. This opportunity combines client collaboration with the technical work that helps a design move into construction. Our Koloa-based team brings design and construction together on Kauai.

We're looking for an Interior Designer/Drafter who can guide material selections and prepare accurate drawings that communicate the intended result. Chief Architect experience is a plus. If you have drafting skills but haven't used Chief Architect, training is available.

About the Role

You'll work with clients to select materials and develop the interior drawings needed for their projects. Your drafting work will include interior elevations, electrical plans, and reflected ceiling plans. Many clients are off-island, so client meetings are often conducted through Zoom. The position is based in the Koloa office, where you'll collaborate with the local team. This role suits someone who enjoys both the creative and practical sides of design: helping clients make decisions, documenting those decisions clearly, and working through the details.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with clients to select project materials.
• Help clients understand and compare selection options.
• Prepare interior elevations that communicate design details.
• Prepare electrical layout drawings as part of the interior design documentation, coordinating with the project team as needed.
• Prepare reflected ceiling plans.
• Update drawings to reflect agreed design decisions.
• Coordinate drawing and selection information with the design and construction teams.
• Participate in client meetings, including Zoom meetings.
• Review your work for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

Required Qualifications

• Interior design skills relevant to guiding client material selections.
• Drafting skills and the ability to prepare clear, accurate drawings.
• Ability to develop interior elevations, electrical plans, and reflected ceiling plans.
• Clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to track decisions and revisions.
• Willingness to learn and use Chief Architect.
• Availability to work from the Koloa office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Chief Architect.

Pay and Benefits

• W-2 Employment
• Pay:$75,000 - $95,000 annually, based on experience.
• Chief Architect training is available for candidates with relevant design and drafting skills.

• Schedule: Full-time, office-based position in Koloa, generally Monday through Friday.
