We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Accountant to join our client’s team that is based at Kawerau, in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.  Working closely with operational leaders and senior management, you will help maintain strong financial controls while improving the quality, timeliness, and usefulness of financial information across the business.

Key responsibilities

* Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports, and supporting analysis.

* Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow reporting, and variance analysis.

* Maintain the general ledger, balance-sheet reconciliations, and month-end processes.

* Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll inputs, and banking activities as required.

* Partner with managers to explain financial performance, identify risks, and support commercial decisions.

* Strengthen financial controls, systems, and processes while promoting continuous improvement.

We are looking for a dependable, detail-focused accounting professional who can balance technical accuracy with a practical commercial approach. You communicate clearly, build trusted relationships, and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team.

What you will bring

* A relevant accounting qualification or equivalent practical experience.

* Proven accounting experience in a commercial business environment.

* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and compliance.

* Confidence using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

* Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

* High attention to detail, sound judgement, and a commitment to confidentiality.

* The ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
