Intermediate BAS Accountant

What does that look like?
This is a long standing Christchurch firm who are looking to continue their growth in the market. They focus on providing a high-quality service to all their clients and not just the big ticket clients. You will be making sure that all clients are given the best possible advice to help reach their goals and getting to work closely with seniors and the directors so you can keep improving your skills.
 
Key ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a full-time Intermediate Accountant reporting to the director and manager group. You will look after your own portfolio of clients and be their first point of contact.
  
Your role will include:

• Preparing annual financial statements and income tax returns
• Working alongside law firms' trust and estate teams, and building those relationships
• Preparing and filing GST and FBT returns
• Setting clients up on Xero and providing training and ongoing support
• Analysing accounting information and giving clients practical advice to improve their business

Skills & ExperienceThis is a role that needs someone that is looking to grow but also has a solid baseline skillset. 

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a New Zealand chartered accounting firm (essential)
• Experience with trust and estate financial accounting preparation (essential)
• Comfortable dealing directly with solicitors and law firm trust & estate teams
• Solid working knowledge of NZ tax — income tax, GST, FBT and provisional tax
• Strong Xero skills, and confident showing a client how to use it
