Grow your career with ABuild in Wellington - Immediate Start
Looking for your next step in structural engineering — somewhere you can do meaningful work, learn from experienced engineers, and be part of a genuinely supportive team? ABuild Consulting Engineers Limited is looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our growing Johnsonville office.
At ABuild, you will be joining a close-knit, down-to-earth consultancy where people know each other, support each other, and take pride in delivering innovative designs that achieve the best outcomes for our clients. We work across a diverse range of projects and are known for our quality, technical capability, and ability to think outside the box for our clients.
This is an opportunity to build your confidence, broaden your experience, and contribute to real projects from concept through to consenting and construction. You will work alongside approachable senior engineers who are invested in helping you develop your technical skills, professional judgement, and career pathway.
- A capable intermediate structural engineer who can hit the ground running with minimal assistance and has practical experience using engineering software such as SPACE GASS, IDEA StatiCa, Wallap, AutoCad or similar design and analysis tools.
- Qualified in NZCE Civil/Structural or an equivalent engineering qualification.
- Positive, curious, and motivated to keep learning and developing.
- Interested in a varied workload including telecommunications structures, retaining walls, foundations, residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
- Keen to be involved across the full project lifecycle, from design and documentation through to site measurement, construction monitoring, and practical problem-solving.
- Able to build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and project partners.
- A collaborative team player with clear verbal and written communication skills.
What you can expect at ABuild is a workplace where your contribution is noticed, your development is supported, and your work has variety and purpose. We offer hands-on mentoring, access to training opportunities, and the chance to learn within a friendly team environment that values honesty, respect, diversity, and good engineering.
We value our people and the work they do. That means competitive salaries, a positive team culture, and a practical, supportive environment where you can grow your capability while contributing to quality project outcomes for our clients.
Candidates must be living in and legally entitled to work in New Zealand. This is an office-based role located in Wellington. While this role is currently casual, there may be an opportunity for it to become full-time permanent.
If you are looking for a role where you can keep learning, be supported by experienced engineers, and enjoy being part of a team that cares about doing great work, we would love to hear from you. Please send your CV and cover letter to [email protected] by no later than Friday October 09, 2026
