Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Intermodal Dispatch Assistant to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage the movement of freight across multiple transportation modes, ensuring seamless communication between carriers, drivers, and clients. Your proactive approach will help optimize routing, maintain compliance with transportation regulations, and support efficient road transportation operations. Responsibilities

• Coordinate intermodal freight shipments by scheduling pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software.
• Communicate effectively with carriers, drivers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms to relay instructions and updates promptly.
• Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
• Manage data entry tasks related to shipping & receiving logs, freight documentation, and dispatch records with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Oversee fleet management activities by coordinating vehicle dispatching, maintenance schedules, and compliance with safety standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries related to freight status, shipment issues, or scheduling conflicts through phone call management and professional phone etiquette.
• Support logistics operations by collaborating with 3PL providers and internal teams to streamline shipping & receiving processes and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.

Requirements

• Preferred experience in transportation planning, road transportation operations, or logistics coordination.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) along with familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or Vehicle Dispatch Software.
• Knowledge of GPS technology, (Samsara is a plus) GIS tools, and vehicle tracking systems to support dispatching decisions.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills for internal communication, phone call management, and customer service interactions.
• Ability to analyze data accurately using analysis skills for route optimization and freight management.
• Understanding of DOT regulations governing freight transport and vehicle dispatching practices.
• Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management software like SyteLine or similar platforms preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in logistics or supply chain management are a plus.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
