Intern Architect

Provencher_Roy is seeking a Intern Architect who is looking to grow in a rigorous, collaborative, and stimulating professional environment. You will contribute to the development of a variety of projects and work alongside experienced professionals throughout their delivery, with a strong focus on continuous learning and professional growth.

Your Role And Responsibilities Under the supervision of experienced architects, you will participate in various stages of project development.

Studies, Design and Project Development

• Prepare visual presentations for clients;
• Participate in the preparation of reports;
• Contribute to space planning and blocking;
• Maintain and update area schedules;
• Compile technical data sheets for materials and equipment;
• Contribute to the development of conceptual plans and models;
• Participate in massing studies and material research;
• Contribute to the preparation of progress reports and code studies;
• Assist with cost estimating, including price and quantity research, as well as project scheduling;
• Coordinate under supervision to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including coordination with consultants and applicable codes;
• Assist the team with project audits and assessments.

Technical Documentation

• Prepare progress reports for clients and stakeholders;
• Participate in the development of drawing sets and specifications;
• Assist with cost estimating, including price and quantity research, as well as project scheduling;
• Coordinate with consultants and other stakeholders under supervision and ensure compliance with applicable codes;
• Assist with audits;
• Prepare addenda and responses to RFIs;
• Participate in bid analysis and comparison of proposals;
• Prepare drawings for the construction phase.

Construction Phase

• Assist in preparing site visit reports and taking notes during construction meetings;
• Maintain records of construction site activities;
• Review shop drawings and produce detailed drawings;
• Prepare site instructions;
• Prepare payment certificates and change orders;
• Respond to certain RFIs (Requests for Information);
• Participate in deficiency inspections and compile deficiency lists;
• Contribute to the preparation of record drawings.

Your Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architecture or a recognized graduate-level university degree meeting the admission requirements of the Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ);
• Enrolment in the OAQ’s internship program;
• 0 to 2 years of relevant experience;
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office;
• Strong interest in architectural quality, attention to detail, and collaboration;
• Excellent command of French, both written and spoken;
• Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as the role may involve future collaboration with our Ottawa office.
