Facilities Data & AI Engineer Intern

Job Summary
The Facilities Data & AI Engineer Intern will support the Facilities team in transforming operational data into meaningful insights that improve facility reliability, energy efficiency, maintenance planning, and decision-making.

 The intern will work with data from facility systems such as electrical power, HVAC, chilled water, compressed air, water supply, wastewater treatment, maintenance records, and other utility systems. The role will involve data preparation, dashboard development, statistical analysis, automation, and the exploration of machine learning or AI solutions under the guidance of Facilities engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, organize, and validate data from facility systems, maintenance records, utility meters, sensors, and existing databases.
• Analyze historical and operational data to identify trends, abnormal conditions, recurring failures, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop dashboards and automated reports for utility consumption, equipment performance, maintenance activities, and departmental KPIs.
• Support the development of data models for forecasting electricity, water, compressed air, or other utility consumption.
• Explore machine learning techniques for anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, equipment-condition monitoring, and early warning systems.
• Assist Facilities engineers in converting technical and operational requirements into data-analysis or automation solutions.
• Automate repetitive data-processing and reporting activities using suitable programming or business-intelligence tools.
• Help organize historical maintenance records and prepare datasets for future analytics or AI applications.
• Present findings and recommendations to Facilities engineers and relevant stakeholders.
• Support other digitalization, sustainability, and continuous-improvement initiatives within the Facilities department.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in: Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related fields
• Able to do the internship for at least 6 months
• Basic understanding of statistics and data visualization.
• Familiarity with data preparation and analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.
• Good English communication skills
• Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively.
• Interest in industrial facilities, energy management, sustainability, maintenance, or smart manufacturing.
