Summary of Position

As a Supply Chain Planning Intern with Taylor Farms Southwest, you will work alongside experienced planning, procurement, production, and operations leaders to support production scheduling, raw material and packaging availability, inventory management, and supply chain analysis in a fast-paced fresh food manufacturing environment. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills while gaining exposure to the end-to-end supply chain process—from supplier coordination and production planning through finished-goods distribution. We are looking for a motivated, analytical, and curious individual who is eager to learn, take on new challenges, and grow into a future supply chain professional. High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time opportunities based on business needs and successful completion of their degree.

Supply Chain Planning Intern Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Review production plans, customer demand, inventory levels, and material requirements to help identify shortages, excess inventory, and supply risks.

  • Support the creation and maintenance of production schedules that align customer orders, inventory targets, labor availability, equipment capacity, product shelf life, and food safety requirements.

  • Coordinate with Procurement and suppliers to monitor purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, ingredients, and other production supplies.

  • Follow up with suppliers regarding order status, delivery commitments, capacity constraints, quality concerns, and expedite requests to support uninterrupted production.

  • Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, lead-time adherence, order accuracy, and responsiveness, and communicate risks or delays to the planning team.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Production, Procurement, Quality, Warehouse, and Transportation teams to support schedule adjustments resulting from changing customer demand, material availability, operational constraints, or product shelf-life considerations.

  • Assist planners and schedulers in evaluating the impact of schedule changes on material requirements, production capacity, labor needs, inventory levels, and customer delivery commitments.

  • Partner with Warehouse and Production teams to help ensure ingredients, packaging, and other materials are available, properly organized, and staged to support daily production schedules.

  • Track production orders, purchase orders, and inventory movement through applicable systems and reports, maintaining accurate data and providing timely status updates to internal stakeholders.

  • Support inventory accuracy by researching discrepancies, reviewing transactions, assisting with cycle counts, and helping identify root causes and corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain reports using Microsoft Excel and company systems to track demand, supply, production status, inventory, supplier performance, waste, service levels, and other key supply chain metrics.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with Planning, Procurement, Production, Quality and Food Safety, Warehouse, Transportation, Customer Service, and Sales teams to gain exposure to Taylor Farms Southwest’s end-to-end supply chain.

  • Identify process-improvement opportunities and assist with solutions that improve planning efficiency, inventory control, supplier performance, waste reduction, production flow, and customer service.
