What they need

Allshores is looking for an experienced Internal Audit Manager to play a pivotal role in enhancing governance, risk management, and internal controls across our global operations. Partnering closely with the Group Head of Internal Audit, you'll lead risk-based audits and advisory engagements across Bermuda, Canada, and Europe, providing valuable insights that help the business navigate risk with confidence. This is an exciting opportunity to challenge the status quo, leverage data analytics, engage with senior stakeholders, and deliver meaningful improvements that create lasting impact across the Group.

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Group Head of Internal Audit in developing and maintaining the annual Group risk assessment and Internal Audit Plan, with regard to strategic priorities, regulatory expectations and emerging risks.
  • Leverage data analytics to enhance audit effectiveness, including full-population testing, continuous auditing, and identification of trends, anomalies, and emerging risks.
  • Lead end-to-end, risk-based audits across financial, operational, regulatory, compliance, technology and change domains, ensuring clear objectives, well-evidenced testing, risk-rated findings and practical reporting.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and relevant management teams to support efficient audit coverage, reduce unnecessary duplication, share control insights where appropriate, and facilitate timely completion of the annual financial statement audit.
  • Assess regulatory, governance, and cross-border risks across multiple jurisdictions and legal entities, including evaluating compliance frameworks and intra-group dependencies.
  • Provide assurance over core business activities and transformation initiatives, including risks arising from amalgamation, system and data integration, and control environment alignment.
  • Evaluate IT general controls, cybersecurity and data governance frameworks, and support the evolution of a data-enabled Internal Audit function; contribute to ESG assurance work where relevant to the approved Internal Audit Plan and the Group’s risk profile.
  • Track, challenge and validate management remediation actions, ensuring corrective actions are timely, sustainable, adequately evidenced and address root causes.
  • Manage, coach and develop internal audit staff, including planning and allocating work, reviewing audit files and reports, providing timely feedback, and supporting capability development across audit methodology, stakeholder management and data-enabled assurance.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders, including presenting audit findings, themes and remediation status to Senior Management and supporting the Head of Internal Audit in reporting to the Group Risk Management Committee and Audit Committee.
  • Develop and deliver in-person and virtual training sessions, promoting awareness of risk management, internal controls, and expectations across the Group.
  • Maintain Internal Audit independence and objectivity by applying professional judgment, avoiding conflicts of interest, escalating matters that may affect audit independence, and ensuring work is performed in accordance with agreed internal audit methodology and applicable professional standards.
  • Improve Internal Audit methodology, workpaper standards, reporting templates and quality assurance practices, ensuring audit work is well evidenced, proportionate and consistent.
  • Support the Head of Internal Audit in preparing for regulatory reviews or information requests relating to Internal Audit matters, ensuring responses are accurate, evidence-based and appropriately governed.
  • Undertake additional audit and advisory activities as directed by the Head of Internal Audit.

Experience, Technical Expertise & Skills:

  • 8+ years’ experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management or assurance, preferably within insurance, reinsurance, healthcare or other regulated financial services environments.
  • Required: Relevant degree; professional certification such as CIA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CISA or equivalent; and strong internal audit, risk, control or assurance experience.
  • Preferred: Insurance, reinsurance or healthcare experience; practical use of data analytics tools; and experience across multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional or transformation environments.
  • Strong understanding of insurance/reinsurance operations, regulatory reporting, and governance, risk, and control frameworks across multi-jurisdictional environments.
  • Strong data analytics capability, including experience using tools such as Power BI, ACL, IDEA, SQL, Python or similar, with the ability to design analytics-led audit tests, interpret results and translate data into clear, actionable audit insights.
  • Experience operating in multi-entity environments, including exposure to integration, transformation, or change initiatives, and engaging senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Demonstrates professional courage, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, discretion, resilience and the ability to challenge constructively while maintaining trusted relationships.
  • Able to manage competing priorities, travel as required, and maintain the highest standards of independence, integrity and professionalism.
