Internal Audit Senior

About the role
Assurance Partners is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Senior to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position within our internal audit function, responsible for leading audit engagements, evaluating internal controls, and providing valuable insights to enhance organisational governance and risk management. As an Internal Audit Senior, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the organisation's assets, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and driving continuous improvement across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and execute internal audit engagements, including developing audit programmes, fieldwork execution and reporting on audit findings
• Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, providing guidance, training and performance feedback to support their professional development
• Prepare clear, concise and timely audit reports detailing findings, observations and actionable recommendations
• Develop and maintain audit documentation and working papers in accordance with professional audit standards and organisational policies
• Stay updated on changes in regulations, audit standards and industry best practices to ensure the audit function remains current and effective

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification in accounting or audit, such as CA, CPA, CIA or equivalent recognised certification

• Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience in internal audit or a related audit discipline

• Solid understanding of audit methodologies, internal controls frameworks and risk assessment techniques

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards

• Demonstrated experience in conducting audit engagements and evaluating the effectiveness of internal control systems

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly to senior management

• High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information

• Ability to manage multiple audit projects simultaneously and work effectively under deadlines

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks relevant to your industry sector
