About the role

An internal auditor for a restaurant business evaluates financial records, operational controls, and inventory accuracy to prevent fraud and reduce waste.

Key responsibilities

• Cash and Sales Audits: Verify daily cash drawer counts, reconcile POS (Point of Sale) transaction reports, and audit voids, refunds, or discounts.
• Inventory and Cost Control: Conduct physical inventory counts, track food cost percentages, and monitor kitchen wastage or spoilage.
• Operational Compliance: Check adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), local government regulations, and food safety standards.
• Procurement Review: Inspect vendor invoices, delivery receipts, and purchase orders to verify pricing and prevent supply chain leakage.
• Fraud Detection: Identify operational gaps, revenue loss, and unusual transaction patterns across multiple restaurant branches or commissaries.
• Reporting: Prepare clear audit findings, document working papers, and deliver practical recommendations to senior management.
