Great manufacturing businesses don’t simply produce exceptional products – they create environments where safety, quality, teamwork, and operational excellence are part of everything they do.

By following robust processes, maintaining high standards, and taking pride in every stage of production, they consistently deliver outstanding results for both customers and colleagues.

As our Leather Worker, you’ll play an important role in transforming raw hides into stable products that can be processed into high-quality finished leather. Supporting a variety of operational processes across the tannery, you’ll help ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and to customer specifications. With a strong focus on quality, safety, flexibility, and teamwork, you’ll contribute to delivering excellent results while supporting a high-performing manufacturing environment.

In this role you will:

  • Carry out a range of tannery operations including hide store activities, clipping-on, Bauce machine operation, lime yard processing, and palletising hides in line with operational requirements.
  • Weigh, process, store, and handle materials accurately to support production, maintain traceability, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and effectively, following Standard Operating Procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Support the preparation, processing, and movement of hides through various production stages to customer specifications.
  • Operate forklift trucks where appropriately trained and licensed.
  • Meet daily production targets while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Follow all Health and Safety procedures, proactively identifying hazards and contributing to our Zero Tolerance Health & Safety culture.
  • Maintain clean, organised, and safe working areas while demonstrating flexibility and supporting teamwork across the wider tannery operation.

You’re someone who takes pride in doing a job properly. You understand that producing high-quality leather relies on attention to detail, consistency, teamwork, and a commitment to safe working practices. You're reliable, adaptable, and willing to learn, with the determination to achieve high standards every day while contributing positively to the wider team.

You will:

  • Have excellent attention to detail, ensuring work is completed accurately and to the required quality standards.
  • Be able to follow Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, and production processes consistently.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, building positive relationships and supporting colleagues to achieve shared goals.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, raising concerns and sharing information where required.
  • Be committed to achieving production targets while maintaining high standards of quality and Health & Safety.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, a willingness to learn new skills, and adaptability across different operational areas.
  • Take ownership of your work, using initiative, problem-solving skills, and effective workload management to deliver results.
  • Have a positive attitude towards feedback and development; previous manufacturing or industrial experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

The impact you will have

Your commitment to Health and Safety, teamwork, flexibility, and continuous improvement will help create a safe, supportive, and high-performing working environment. By working closely with your colleagues and supervisors, you'll support efficient production, maintain high standards, and take pride in delivering excellent results every day.
