Internal Sales & Customer Service Representative

Wakefield Metals is one of New Zealand’s leading metal distributors, supplying aluminium, stainless steel, copper and brass to customers across manufacturing, engineering, construction and fabrication.

We’re looking for an energetic, reliable and customer-focused person to join our Hamilton team.

This is primarily an internal sales and customer service role. You’ll work directly with customers, process orders, prepare quotations and help identify sales opportunities. As part of a small, hands-on branch team, you’ll also provide support in the warehouse when required.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing excellent customer service by phone, email and over the trade counter
• Preparing quotations and processing customer orders
• Building strong relationships with existing customers
• Following up quotations, enquiries and sales opportunities
• Providing product information and helping customers find the right solution
• Working closely with our external sales and warehouse teams
• Assisting with picking, packing, stock control and other warehouse duties when required

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience in customer service, internal sales or a similar role
• Enjoys dealing with customers and building relationships
• Has a genuine can-do attitude and takes ownership of their work
• Is organised, reliable and has good attention to detail
• Is confident using computer systems and learning new software
• Works well as part of a team and is willing to pitch in wherever needed

Experience in metals, engineering, manufacturing or distribution would be an advantage but isn’t essential. A forklift licence would also be beneficial.
