About us

Packweigh Equipment designs, manufactures and installs weighing and bagging machinery from our Capalaba facility. Mechanical and electrical design, fabrication, assembly and installation all happen in-house. Our customers are stock feed mills, fertiliser plants, seed and grain processors, garden product manufacturers and food packers across Australia.

The opportunity

This is an internal sales role supporting a small, busy external sales team.

You will be the person who puts the detail behind a quote: pricing equipment, gathering supplier and freight costs, preparing quotations, and following up open opportunities so nothing goes cold. You will handle incoming enquiries, keep our quote register accurate, and work with our engineering and drafting team to get technical documentation done on time.

It suits someone technically minded who enjoys detail and wants to understand the product properly. For the right person it is also a starting point: as your knowledge builds you will take on more of the customer relationship, and there is a clear path into an external technical sales role.

What you will be doing

• Chasing down the information behind a quote: supplier pricing, freight costs, lead times, dimensions and shipping constraints

• Preparing quotes for stock and standard equipment from templates, and drafting budget estimates for review

• Following up open quotes — is the job still live, has the scope changed, what do they need next

• Keeping our quote register accurate so we always know where everything stands

• Working with our drafting and engineering team to get layouts scheduled and delivered

• Answering entry-level enquiries on standard machines, and passing the technical ones on cleanly

• Spending real time in the workshop learning what these machines do and where they suit

About you

We are looking for someone technical, organised and persistent who wants to end up in sales.

• You understand machinery — how it works, why it is built that way, what the numbers on a spec sheet mean

• You solve the problem rather than reporting it

• You are relentlessly organised and you finish what you start without being reminded

• You are accurate with numbers, dimensions and detail.

• You are confident on the phone with customers and suppliers, and clear in writing

• You are comfortable in Excel and Outlook and pick up new systems quickly

• You have a current driver's licence and are happy to get out to customer sites

Any of these backgrounds would suit

• A trade or technical background — fitter, mechanical, electrical, maintenance — and you want to move off the tools

• Engineering study, complete or partly complete, at diploma or associate degree level

• Trade counter, parts interpreting or internal sales in a machinery or industrial supply business

• Estimating, quoting or project administration in an engineering or manufacturing business

What we offer

• $80,000 – $90,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience

• Permanent full time, Monday to Friday, based at our Capalaba facility

• Proper training on the product, including time on the workshop floor

• A clear path into an external technical sales role as your knowledge builds

• A small team where what you do is visible and decisions get made quickly
