Internet Backbone Engineer

About the role

This role involves configuring, deploying, and maintaining network infrastructure in Internet backbone environments, with a focus on routing protocols, switching technologies, and network optimization across multivendor platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and deploy routers, switches, and CGN devices in the Internet backbone network
• Implement and maintain BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, and IPv4/IPv6 routing policies
• Manage IP addresses, routing policies, route filtering, prefix lists, and communities
• Support peering sessions, IX connectivity, and upstream provider routing
• Proactively detect abnormalities, security incidents, and routing anomalies
• Maintain accurate network configuration documentation and topology diagrams

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor Degree, majoring in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering from reputable university
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Telco/ISP environment
• Strong knowledge and experience in designing, deploying, and optimizing TCP/IP, MPLS, and BGP in Internet networks for v4 and v6
• Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in switching and L2 technologies, i.e., STP, RSTP, MSTP
• Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in routing and L3 technologies, i.e., OSPF, BGP, MPLS L2/L3 VPN, and MPLS Traffic Engineering
• Good communication and troubleshooting skills
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to multitask in a high-demanding environment
• Willingness to learn new technologies and industry best practices
• Multivendor knowledge and experience with Cisco, Huawei, and ZTE network equipment is highly preferred
