The opportunity

Elsyca is seeking for a dynamic and talented student for an immersive internship, strengthening the engineering

capacity at our headquarters office.

The selected intern will have dedicated training to deepen his/her knowledge in the internship topic and will be

exposed to a variety of other application domains where Elsyca is active.

Internship topic

Elsyca performs electrochemical computer simulation to verify and optimize the performance of cathodic

protection systems in offshore wind turbine foundations for more than 10 years.

Maintaining and improving state-of-art simulation software requires benchmarking against real world data.

The selected intern will update computational models and perform cathodic protection simulations on monopile

foundations across multiple offshore wind farms and compare the results with monitoring data with the aim to

optimize model parameters and obtain a digital twin that considers the different operational and environmental

conditions experieced in the real world.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of the engineering team and is expected to:

• Perform computer simulations of cathodic protection systems using Elsyca’s 3D simulation software,

• Update existing or build the CAD model to as-built condition and setup computational models,

• Execute computer simulations and extract the relevant results,

• Post-process monitoring data, compare them with simulation results and identify trends,

• Presenting findings to the team, discuss the obtain results and propose next steps.

About you

Ideally, you will:

• Be a BS or MS student in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related chemistry related degree,

• Have knowledge about CAD system and 3D objects construction,

• Be comfortable with spreadsheet data manipulation,

• Have excellent problem-solving skills, a critical and analytical mind,

• Be fluent in English (spoken and written),

• Have good communications skills and demonstrate good attention to detail,

• Be a fast learner and eager to learn new skills,

• Be able to work independently and as part of a team,

Preferably you will show additionally:

• Electrochemical knowledge of electrodeposition, cathodic protection and corrosion,

• Previous experience with modelling.
