Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on various IT infrastructure components such as LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), firewalls, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools.
• Support security risk assessments and investigations following established frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST standards, and COBIT.
• Help analyze network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols like OSPF and BGP to identify potential security weaknesses.
• Contribute to the implementation and testing of cybersecurity tools such as Burp Suite, Nmap, Splunk, SolarWinds, and Fiddler for threat detection and response.
• Participate in system security hardening efforts across operating systems including Windows, Linux distributions like Debian and CentOS, macOS, and cloud environments such as AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
• Assist in documenting security assessments, vulnerability research findings, and incident recovery procedures aligned with security standards like ISO 27002 and PCI compliance.
• Support the team in developing security system administration practices related to identity & access management (IAM), encryption protocols, VPN configurations, and cloud infrastructure security.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity or a related field with a strong interest in ethical hacking.
• Basic understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture, routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF), network support, and network management tools.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles such as vulnerability management, threat detection & response, incident management, and system hardening techniques.
• Knowledge of security frameworks including ISO 27001/27002 standards, FISMA regulations, FIPS compliance requirements, and risk management frameworks.
• Experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash (Unix shell) is a plus; familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as Nmap or Burp Suite is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail; ability to follow structured SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) processes for security testing.
• Excellent communication skills to document findings clearly and collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Pay: $22.90 - $27.58 per hour
