INTERNSHIP, PROCESS ENGINEERING

About the role

The intern will support the Process Engineering team in process documentation, defect management, data analysis and automation. This helps complete important but time-consuming engineering work while allowing the team to focus on higher-priority improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Map and document production process flows through shop-floor observation.
• Take and organise production defect pictures to develop a Visual Defect Catalogue.
• Develop and improve Excel tools, formulas, dashboards and reports.
• Create VBA/Macro or Power Query automation where applicable.
• Support root cause analysis using continuous improvement tools.
• Assist with Lean and Continuous Improvement activities.
• Support basic Statistical Process Control and process documentation updates.

About you

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Quality Engineering, Quality Management, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience with VBA, Macros, Power Query, or Power BI is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, process engineering, or production operations.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Statistical Process Control (SPC) is an advantage.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and interacting with operators, technicians, and engineers.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.

Expected Internship Deliverables

• Develop and document production process flow maps through shop-floor observations and process studies.
• Create and maintain a Visual Defect Catalogue to support defect identification and quality improvement initiatives.
• Deliver at least one (1) to two (2) improvements using Excel, VBA/Macros, Power Query, or related automation tools to enhance reporting and data management processes.
• Complete one (1) Continuous Improvement (CI) project with clear problem definition, analysis, recommendations, and measurable outcomes where applicable.
• Prepare and deliver a final internship presentation summarizing key findings, analyses, improvement initiatives, recommendations, and overall learning outcomes.
