Internship - Process, Quality Improvement & Continuous Improvement

Internship Objective

To support the plant’s process quality monitoring and continuous improvement efforts, with strong focus on leading indicators, standardisation, and loss prevention, in line with Gyproc World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Support process quality monitoring in line with WCM Quality pillar standards.
• Assist in collecting, analysing, and trending process and quality data as leading indicators (process stability, compliance, early abnormality detection).
• Support monitoring of process adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Assist in identifying quality risks, deviations, and process losses before they become defects or customer issues.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) / Focused Improvement (FI) activities related to quality, cost, and process stability.
• Support preparation and maintenance of quality visual management tools (dashboards, trend charts, control boards).
• Assist in updating SOPs, checklists, and standard work documentation.
• Support shopfloor activities, Gemba walks, and WCM reviews with Operations and Quality teams.
• Prepare basic reports and presentations on improvement progress and findings.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand Gyproc WCM principles, especially Quality, Focused Improvement, and Standardisation.
• Learn the concept of leading vs lagging indicators and prevention‑based quality management.
• Gain exposure to process control, quality monitoring, and CI practices in a manufacturing environment.
• Develop problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Build awareness of safety, quality, and continuous improvement culture.

Intern Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The intern’s performance will be evaluated based on the following:

1. Quality & Process Monitoring

• Timely and accurate collection and updating of quality / process leading indicators.
• Proper maintenance of quality trend charts and visual boards.
• Identification and escalation of abnormal trends or deviations.

2. Continuous Improvement Contribution

• Participation in at least one (1) CI / FI / Kaizen activity.
• Support implementation and follow‑up of improvement actions.
• Contribution to loss prevention or process stabilisation initiatives.

3. Standardisation & Documentation

• Quality and completeness of SOPs, checklists, or standard work updates.
• Compliance with document control and standardisation requirements.

4. WCM Behaviour & Engagement

• Active participation in Gemba walks, reviews, and meetings.
• Demonstration of WCM mindset (fact‑based, prevention‑focused, disciplined).
• Collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

5. Overall Performance

• Quality of work delivered (accuracy, clarity, discipline).
• Learning attitude, initiative, and adherence to safety and quality rules.
• Final internship presentation / report on assigned activities and learnings.

Course of Study Requirement

• Currently pursuing a Science‑based course, preferably Chemistry / Chemical Science.
• Other relevant studies may include Applied Science or equivalent.

Internship Duration

• Minimum duration: 3 months
