Job Summary

NOW HIRING: IN-PERSON LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS – NYC SCHOOLS

Hanson & Co. Interpreting and Consulting, LLC is currently seeking qualified in-person interpreters to support assignments within New York City public schools (DOE).

Location: New York City – In Person

Starting Pay: $30.00 per hour, with higher rates based on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Assignments available during school hours, Monday–Friday

Languages Currently Needed:

• Bengali
• Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese)
• Urdu
• Korean

We are also looking for ASL interpreters

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and professional interpretation in educational settings
• Interpret during classroom activities, school meetings, parent meetings, IEP-related meetings, and other school-based assignments as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Arrive on time and remain available for the full scheduled assignment
• Follow Hanson & Co. and NYC school policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous professional interpreting experience
• Experience interpreting in schools or educational environments is highly preferred
• Strong proficiency in English and the target language
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assignments throughout NYC
• Professional, dependable, and committed to confidentiality

Compensation:

Starting at $30/hour, based on experience, qualifications, language, and assignment requirements.
