Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced InterSystems HealthShare HIE Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain healthcare data interfaces and services within a Health Information Exchange (HIE) environment.

The role focuses on healthcare interoperability, data transformation, integration, and secure data exchange using InterSystems HealthShare/IRIS, Ensemble, and Cache technologies. You will work closely with architects and analysts to deliver scalable, reliable, and compliant healthcare integration solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement healthcare data integrations using InterSystems HealthShare/IRIS, Ensemble, or Cache.
• Develop Data Transformation Logic (DTL) and XSLT to map and transform healthcare messages, including HL7 V2, CCDA, FHIR, and IHE, to and from Summary Document Architecture (SDA).
• Create and maintain Business Processes, Business Services, and Business Operations within the Interoperability Production environment.
• Develop complex data workflows, routing rules, and integration services.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve interface issues, message failures, and performance bottlenecks within the HealthShare environment.
• Develop and consume REST and SOAP web services.
• Implement secure data exchange using MLLP, SFTP, TCP/IP, and other integration protocols.
• Work with SQL and relational databases to support healthcare integration requirements.
• Collaborate with Architects and Analysts to translate technical specifications into scalable, high-quality solutions.
• Follow software development best practices, including SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Ensure healthcare integrations comply with applicable privacy, security, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
• Participate in testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of HIE solutions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 3+ years of hands-on development experience with InterSystems HealthShare and its components, such as Unified Care Record, Health Connect/Ensemble.

• Strong proficiency in Caché ObjectScript (COS) and/or IRIS ObjectScript.

• In-depth knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards:

  • HL7 V2
  • HL7 FHIR
  • CDA/CCDA
  • XML
  • JSON

• Hands-on experience with:

  • DTL
  • XSLT
  • Business Process Language (BPL)

• Strong understanding of integration protocols, including:

  • MLLP
  • SFTP
  • REST
  • SOAP
  • TCP/IP

• Experience working with SQL and relational databases.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• InterSystems certifications, such as HealthShare or IRIS for Health certifications.
• Experience with other integration engines such as Rhapsody or Cloverleaf.
• Familiarity with patient matching algorithms and Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) functionality.
• Experience working in CI/CD environments.
• Knowledge of healthcare data privacy and security practices.
