Inventory Accounting Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Inventory Accounting Manager with expertise in inventory control and stock accounting management to ensure accuracy of inventory data, cost of goods sold, and all related accounting entries. The role involves analyzing variances, mitigating risks, and developing internal control systems to support FMCG distribution business with diverse product ranges and distribution channels.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and control inventory accounting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies
• Verify receipts, disbursements, transfers, returns, stock adjustments, promotional items, and other inventory transactions against supporting documents and systems
• Reconcile inventory data between accounting systems, warehouse management systems, and general ledger (GL)
• Control recording of product costs, cost of goods sold, and related expenses in accordance with accounting periods
• Verify accuracy of inventory valuation and monthly and annual closing entries
• Analyze variances from physical inventory counts, identify root causes, propose corrective actions, and monitor results
• Plan and control monthly, annual, and cycle count physical inventory verifications
• Analyze inventory balances, slow-moving items, near-expiry products, damaged goods, and missing inventory
• Review and control provisions for obsolete, deteriorated, and written-off inventory
• Prepare Inventory Aging, Stock Movement, Stock Variance reports and related analytical reports for management
• Develop and improve stock accounting processes, internal control systems, and work procedures for efficiency
• Coordinate with warehouse, supply chain, procurement, sales, IT, and related departments
• Support auditors, internal audit, and relevant agencies with information and documentation
• Manage, assign, review, and develop the inventory accounting team to meet performance targets

About you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
• 7–10 years of experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or stock control
• Manager-level or equivalent team management experience
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, account closing, and account reconciliation
• Experience from FMCG, Distribution, Trading, Retail, or businesses with high-volume inventory and transaction movement
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel including PivotTable, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and data analysis
• Experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Leadership capability to manage teams and coordinate effectively across departments
• Ability to conduct warehouse visits and participate in physical inventory counts as planned
