What they need

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Supervisor is the on-site leader of inventory accuracy and transactional discipline at the Nashville plant — the company's second-largest manufacturing footprint and its fastest-growing site, driven by rapid wholesale expansion in the eastern half of the country. This is a site-leadership role, not solely an execution role: the Supervisor owns site-level inventory accuracy, builds and runs the plant's cycle count program, trains and coaches floor teams as the plant scales, and represents inventory control credibly with plant leadership.

Nashville's wholesale mix adds complexity beyond unit volume: retailer-specific SKUs, private-label BOM variants, and chargeback exposure from shipping and labeling errors all raise the stakes on transactional accuracy. The Supervisor executes corporate inventory control policy locally while exercising independent judgment, and serves as the plant's primary inventory control contact for the Corporate Inventory Control Manager. The role will own inventory control readiness for the Nashville WMS phase go-live and is expected to absorb and lead additional site IC headcount as volume grows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Site Inventory Leadership

  • Own raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory accuracy for the Nashville plant in compliance with corporate targets.
  • Build, schedule, and lead the plant's cycle count program, including variance research, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Ensure all plant inventory transactions (receipts, issues, transfers, backflush, scrap, adjustments) are executed accurately and on time in the ERP/OHM environment.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies; document root causes and drive corrective actions with the responsible department.
  • Plan for and lead the site inventory control team as headcount is added with plant growth, including training, work direction, and performance input.

WMS Readiness and Systems

  • Own inventory control readiness for the Nashville WMS phase: data validation, location and item master accuracy, process design input, training, testing, and go-live support.
  • Serve as the site subject-matter expert for ERP, OHM, and WMS inventory transactions.
  • Apply the corporate cycle count methodology (as hardened from the Phase 1 pilot at Glendale) to the Nashville site.

Wholesale-Specific Controls

  • Maintain accuracy on retailer-specific and private-label SKUs, including correct BOM variant usage, labeling, and packaging requirements.
  • Partner with Shipping and wholesale customer service on finished goods staging, load accuracy, and chargeback prevention and dispute support.
  • Support wholesale-driven surge and promotional volume without loss of transactional discipline.

Process, Compliance, and Partnership

  • Adhere to and locally enforce corporate inventory control policies and transaction standards; escalate barriers to the Corporate Inventory Control Manager.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including physical counts where required.
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready documentation of inventory transactions, adjustments, and cycle count results.
  • Identify excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory; coordinate disposition with the Corporate Inventory Control Manager and Purchasing.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager and Production leadership on material availability and WIP visibility while maintaining independent inventory control judgment.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of inventory control, materials management, or warehouse operations experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in a high-growth or rapidly scaling plant environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with wholesale/retail customer compliance requirements (routing guides, labeling, chargebacks) preferred.
  • Experience in mattress, furniture, foam, or similar high-SKU manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience supporting a WMS implementation or go-live strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with ERP inventory transactions required; MES (OHM) and WMS experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
  • Familiarity with barcoding and RF scanning.
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, work orders, routing guides, and shipping documents.

Core Competencies

  • Site-level ownership — able to run the function independently, 1,600+ miles from corporate.
  • Leadership presence with plant management, floor teams, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Highly detail-oriented and accurate — inventory control is a precision discipline.
  • Professional integrity — willing to report issues accurately even when the answer is unwelcome.
  • Builder's mindset — comfortable creating process where none exists in a fast-scaling plant.
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves — this is a floor-present role.

Working Conditions

Split between office and manufacturing floor at the Nashville plant. PPE required on the production floor. Occasional extended hours during month-end close, physical inventory events, WMS go-live, and peak wholesale shipping periods. Occasional travel to Glendale for training and alignment (under 10 percent).

Key Performance Indicators

  • Plant inventory record accuracy by category.
  • Cycle count completion rate and variance performance.
  • Chargeback incidents attributable to inventory, labeling, or shipping accuracy.
  • Stockout events caused by inventory inaccuracy.
  • Month-end close timeliness and accuracy.
  • Successful Nashville WMS phase go-live and post-go-live transaction discipline.

Readiness of site IC processes and team to absorb planned volume growth..
