Inventory Planning Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Sr. Inventory Planner with proven

experience managing inventory for Walmart or as a supplier to Walmart. This role is critical to

ensure our products are optimally stocked, forecasted, and replenished across key retail channels.

The ideal candidate has exceptional Excel skills, a strong understanding of retail inventory

dynamics, and is experienced in demand forecasting, replenishment strategies, and navigating

Walmart’s supply chain systems (e.g., Retail Link, NOVA, GRS).

Key Responsibilities

 Develop, maintain, and refine demand forecasts using historical sales data, trends,

promotions, and seasonality for Walmart and other key accounts.

 Collaborate with Walmart replenishment managers and internal account teams to ensure

in-stock goals, forecast accuracy, and inventory turn targets are met.

 Analyze POS and DC-level data through Retail Link and other Walmart systems to guide

replenishment strategy.

 Utilize advanced Excel modeling and forecasting tools to manage weekly forecasts and

monitor key metrics (e.g., sell-through, weeks of supply, on-hand inventory).

 Manage inventory levels across the supply chain to minimize stockouts and excess

inventory.

 Partner with supply chain, sales, and logistics teams to plan purchase orders, production

runs, and shipping schedules.

 Identify inventory risks and opportunities; proactively recommend mitigation or

optimization strategies.

 Track and report key KPIs such as forecast accuracy, OTIF (On Time In Full), and fill

rates.

 Provide regular reporting and insights to cross-functional teams and leadership.

Requirements

 5+ years of inventory planning experience, with at least 2 years focused on Walmart

(either as a supplier or within Walmart corporate).

 Expert-level Excel skills including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, INDEX/MATCH, and data

modeling; VBA/Macros a plus.

 Proficiency in Walmart systems like Retail Link, NOVA, and GRS is required.

 Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for trends, anomalies, and opportunities in large

datasets.

 Demonstrated experience with forecasting tools, inventory management systems, or

ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle).

 Deep understanding of supply chain principles, including lead times, safety stock, and

replenishment cycles.

 Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

 Strong communication skills – able to clearly explain forecasts, assumptions, and

recommendations to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

 Experience managing omni-channel retail inventory, including eCommerce.

 Experience with a DRP (Demand Resource Planning) tool

 Familiarity with Walmart’s OTIF compliance programs and supply chain scorecards.

 Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related field.
