Decker Retirement Planning Inc.

About the Role
We are looking for an analytical, detail-oriented Investment Operations & Technology Analyst to support our investment operations team across trading, billing, data analysis, and process improvement.
The core of this role is ensuring that trading and billing are accurate, timely, and well-controlled. Beyond the day-to-day work, we want someone who naturally asks, “Why are we doing this this way?” and who takes initiative to understand how our systems work, identify weaknesses, and uses technology to make our processes better.
This is a good fit for someone who enjoys working with both financial data and technology and wants increasing responsibility for automation, systems integration, and operational improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Investment Operations

Review and transmit trade requests and model updates.

Build systems to automate and monitor trade execution audits.

Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.

Billing & Audit

Reconcile errors and discrepancies in fee schedules, management styles, account data, and billing records across systems.

Build systems to automate and monitor billing audits.

Assist with back-billing, refunds, and other remediation resulting from billing audits.

Data, Systems & Automation

Work extensively with Excel and large financial datasets to analyze, reconcile, and validate information.

Learn how our CRM, portfolio management, custodial, and other systems interact.

Identify opportunities to eliminate manual work and reduce operational risk.

Use APIs, automation, AI tools, and other technology to improve workflows and connect systems.

Document processes and develop practical, maintainable solutions rather than one-off fixes.

Investment Research Support

Assist with maintaining investment models, data, and documentation.

Support investment and insurance product research and analysis as needed.

Help develop tools and processes that make investment research more efficient and scalable.

What We're Looking For
The most important qualities are analytical ability, attention to detail, and proactive curiosity. You should enjoy figuring out how things work, finding inefficiencies or operational gaps, and be persistent in fixing them completely.
Required:

Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy.

Exceptional Excel and data-analysis skills, including working comfortably with long formulas, large datasets, and Power BI.

Comfort working with APIs and an interest in systems integration and automation.

Familiarity with AI tools and an interest in applying them to practical business problems while keeping business data secure.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate unfamiliar systems or processes independently.

Clear written and verbal communication.

Ability to take ownership of recurring processes while also looking for ways to improve them.

Experience with investment operations, trading, billing, wealth management, or financial services is very valuable, but we are more interested in your ability to learn, analyze, and solve problems. Experience with Orion, Salesforce, and Fidelity is a plus. A bachelor's degree in data analytics, information systems, finance, economics, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not necessarily required.
How We Work
We value people who take ownership, care about the details, and are willing to challenge inefficient processes. We believe good ideas matter more than who came up with them, and that solving problems proactively is part of everyone's job.
We also value the ability to communicate clearly with people at different levels of technical and financial knowledge, whether working with an advisor, teammate, or client.
What We Offer

Competitive compensation based on experience

Comprehensive benefits package, including health, retirement, and PTO

A high-autonomy environment where good ideas can be implemented quickly

The opportunity to develop expertise at the intersection of investment operations, financial data, and technology

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
Benefits:

401(k)

401(k) matching

Life insurance

Paid time off

Professional development assistance

Retirement plan

Vision insurance

Application Question(s):

Tell us briefly about a time you found a problem that others had overlooked and figured out how to solve it. Examples involving complex error identification, data analysis, automation, APIs, or improving an inefficient process are particularly relevant.
