IoT System Operator – System Admin

About the role

Gussmann Technologies Sdn Bhd is seeking an IoT System Operator – System Admin to join our growing team in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in the management and maintenance of our Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure and systems. As an IoT System Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of our connected devices, networks, and data systems that drive our business operations. This role is fundamental to maintaining system reliability, security, and performance across our IoT ecosystem, making it essential to our organisation's digital transformation strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage IoT devices, sensors, and connected systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime
• Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and patches to keep IoT infrastructure secure and current
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to IoT devices, networks, and software systems
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, changes, and incident reports
• Manage user access controls and implement security protocols to protect IoT systems and data
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support the deployment and integration of new IoT solutions
• Monitor system logs, performance metrics, and alerts to identify potential issues before they impact operations
• Provide technical support to end-users and stakeholders regarding IoT system functionality
• Participate in on-call support rotations to ensure 24/7 system availability and incident response
• Conduct regular system backups and ensure disaster recovery procedures are in place and tested

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role managing networked systems and infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of IoT platforms, protocols, and technologies such as MQTT, CoAP, or similar IoT communication standards
• Proficiency with Linux and/or Windows server operating systems
• Experience with network administration, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewall configuration
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing connected devices and systems
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack, or similar solutions
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and edge computing environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work methodically under pressure
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent IoT/Systems Administration certifications are preferred
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes is advantageous
