About Minnesota Computers LLC
Minnesota Computers LLC (MNC) is a certified IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) company headquartered in Eagan, MN. We hold R2v3, RIOS, NAID AAA, and NIST SP 800-88 certifications — a combination that places us among the most thoroughly vetted ITAD providers in the Upper Midwest. Our work sits at the intersection of data security, environmental responsibility, and the circular economy: we take in end-of-life IT equipment from enterprise clients, process and audit it to the highest standards, and put as much of it back into productive use as possible.
As we grow our operations team in Eagan, we're looking for individuals who take accuracy and accountability seriously and who want to build a career in a fast-growing, compliance-driven industry.
Position Overview
The IT Asset Technician – Intake & Auditing is a critical role within MNC's operations workflow. You'll be part of the team responsible for processing every inbound shipment of IT equipment that arrives at our facility — everything from enterprise laptop refreshes to full server room decommissions. This means auditing hardware, scanning and recording serial numbers, logging equipment into our tracking systems, and performing certified data sanitization on storage media. You'll work closely with both the warehouse receiving team and the broader testing team to ensure equipment is accurately cataloged and ready for downstream processing.
This is a production-floor, hands-on position. No prior ITAD experience is required — MNC will provide full training on our processes, tools, and compliance standards. What matters most is that you are detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working with IT hardware in a structured, documentation-heavy environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesIntake Auditing
- Receive equipment from the warehouse team after initial inbound receiving and begin the auditing workflow for each pallet or shipment
- Identify, inspect, and catalog all inbound IT assets including desktops, laptops, thin clients, networking devices (switches, routers, firewalls), and enterprise servers
- Scan serial numbers and asset tags for each item using barcode scanners and manual entry; record all data accurately in MNC's tracking spreadsheets and/or inventory management system
- Document equipment that lacks serial numbers (common in internal server components, peripheral cards, and certain networking hardware) using MNC's established component-level recording procedures
- Note and escalate any manifest discrepancies, damaged items, or missing equipment per MNC's chain-of-custody documentation requirements
- Sort and organize audited equipment by category, condition, and downstream workflow (remarketing, recycling, data destruction, or parts harvesting)
Data Sanitization
- Perform hard drive and SSD sanitization using MNC-approved tools and methods in accordance with NIST SP 800-88 standards
- Complete and maintain data destruction certificates and audit logs for all sanitized media
- Flag and quarantine drives or devices that cannot be sanitized to standard for secure disposal
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, legible records in spreadsheets and internal systems for every item processed — this is a compliance-sensitive role and documentation accuracy is non-negotiable
- Follow all R2v3, RIOS, and NAID AAA operational protocols relevant to the auditing and testing workflow
- Participate in periodic internal audits, training sessions, and process improvement discussions
- Keep your workstation and shared processing areas clean and organized in accordance with facility standards
Cross-Team Coordination
- Communicate clearly with the warehouse team about inbound pallet status and any receiving discrepancies
- Hand off audited equipment to the appropriate downstream processing team with complete and accurate documentation
- Support lead technicians and operations supervisors as directed
QualificationsRequired
- Basic working knowledge of common IT hardware — you should be able to identify a desktop, laptop, server, switch, or HDD when you see one
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) for data entry and basic record-keeping
- Strong attention to detail — accuracy in serial number recording and documentation is essential in this role
- Ability to work at a sustained, consistent pace in a production-floor environment
- Ability to lift and handle equipment up to 50 lbs; willingness to stand, bend, and move throughout a full shift
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred (Not Required)
- Prior experience in electronics, IT, warehousing, or a production/assembly environment
- Familiarity with data sanitization tools (e.g., Blancco, DBAN, or similar)
- Experience with asset tracking or inventory management software
- CompTIA A+ or similar IT certification (or currently pursuing)
- Prior exposure to ITAD, e-recycling, or refurbishment operations
Work Environment
This is an on-site, production-floor role at MNC's Eagan, MN facility. You will spend the majority of your shift standing and moving between workstations. The environment can involve dust from equipment handling and occasional noise from warehouse operations — appropriate PPE is provided. You will regularly handle IT equipment ranging from a few pounds up to 50+ lbs; carts and lifting equipment are available for heavier items.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting wage: $18.00 – $20.00/hr based on experience and demonstrated skill
- Full-time, Monday–Friday schedule — consistent hours with no mandatory weekends
- Opportunities for pay increases as skills and certifications grow
- On-the-job training on all MNC processes, compliance standards, and tools — no prior ITAD experience required
- Clear growth path within MNC's expanding operations team, including advancement into lead technician and supervisory roles
- Work that matters: every piece of equipment you process is either given a second life or responsibly recycled, keeping it out of landfills
