IT Cloud Planning Expert

Position Objective

Lead the strategic planning, capacity forecasting, and continuous evolution of enterprise IT cloud infrastructure across private, public, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.

Translate business and application requirements into scalable infrastructure plans, technology roadmaps, CAPEX/OPEX budgets, and investment strategies.

Drive cloud modernization, workload migration, infrastructure optimization, and AI infrastructure planning while ensuring technology decisions align with business objectives, operational resilience, lifecycle requirements, and long-term cost efficiency.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Multi-Cloud Capacity Planning: Lead short-, medium-, and long-term capacity planning across private, public, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments, aligning infrastructure resources with business demand and application growth.
• Technology Roadmap & Lifecycle Management: Develop cloud infrastructure roadmaps covering platform modernization, technology refresh, consolidation, standardization, and end-of-life management across VMware, Red Hat, hyperconverged infrastructure, and cloud-native platforms.
• Infrastructure Budgeting & Investment Planning: Own CAPEX/OPEX forecasting, annual budgeting, multi-year investment planning, and business-case development, including total cost of ownership (TCO), cost-benefit analysis, and infrastructure optimization.
• Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure Assessment: Evaluate compute, storage, networking, virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, automation, and cloud management platforms to ensure scalability, performance, resilience, and technical feasibility.
• Hyperscaler Integration & Migration Strategy: Define workload placement, cloud adoption, migration, and repatriation strategies across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, private cloud, and edge environments, considering security, connectivity, data sovereignty, latency, and cost.
• AI Infrastructure Planning: Assess infrastructure requirements for AI/ML, Generative AI, and Agentic AI workloads, including GPU capacity, high-performance networking, storage, power, deployment models, and associated cost economics.
• Cloud Financial Management & Optimization: Drive FinOps practices, cloud consumption analysis, resource utilization optimization, unit-cost modelling, and chargeback/showback mechanisms to improve infrastructure efficiency and financial accountability.
• Strategic Transformation & Modernization: Lead initiatives involving cloud modernization, infrastructure consolidation, platform standardization, automation, sustainability, and technology simplification to improve operational efficiency and long-term scalability.
• Vendor & Commercial Management: Lead technical and commercial evaluations, RFI/RFP processes, proof-of-concept assessments, infrastructure sizing reviews, licensing evaluations, and vendor negotiations to ensure optimal technology selection and investment value.
• Risk, Resilience & Lifecycle Planning: Assess infrastructure dependencies, capacity risks, technology obsolescence, performance constraints, disaster recovery requirements, and platform lifecycle risks to maintain service continuity and support future growth.
• Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Management: Prepare strategic recommendations, investment proposals, capacity forecasts, benchmarking reports, and management presentations, translating complex technical requirements into actionable business decisions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with enterprise architecture, infrastructure operations, application, cybersecurity, finance, procurement, and business teams to align cloud strategy, capacity plans, investment priorities, and transformation initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A master’s degree or relevant professional certifications in cloud computing, infrastructure, or enterprise architecture is an advantage.
• 15+ years of experience in IT cloud infrastructure, data center infrastructure, virtualization, capacity planning, or enterprise infrastructure strategy.
• Multi-Cloud Expertise: Strong knowledge of private, public, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Cloud & Virtualization Platforms: Expertise in VMware, Red Hat OpenShift/OpenStack/Virtualization, hyperconverged infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud management platforms.
• Infrastructure Capacity Planning: Proven experience in demand forecasting, capacity modelling, resource utilization analysis, infrastructure sizing, and long-term capacity expansion planning.
• Budgeting & Financial Planning: Strong experience in CAPEX/OPEX budgeting, multi-year investment forecasting, TCO analysis, unit economics, business-case development, and FinOps.
• Cloud Migration & Modernization: Experience in workload placement, cloud migration strategies, infrastructure consolidation, platform modernization, and technology lifecycle management.
• AI Infrastructure Planning: Understanding of AI/ML and Generative AI infrastructure requirements, including GPUs, high-performance networking, storage, and AI infrastructure economics.
• Vendor & Commercial Management: Experience in RFI/RFP processes, vendor evaluations, licensing models, procurement, infrastructure sizing reviews, and commercial negotiations.
• Strategic Leadership & Communication: Strong analytical, stakeholder-management, problem-solving, and presentation skills, with the ability to develop technology roadmaps, assess infrastructure risks, and translate technical requirements into executive-level investment recommendations. Relevant cloud, virtualization, or FinOps certifications are desirable.
