IT Consultant

Overview

As an IT Consultant, you’ll help organisations assess technology needs and deliver practical, secure solutions. You’ll work with stakeholders to understand challenges, recommend suitable architectures and support implementation across varied systems.

Duties

• Assess existing IT environments, gather requirements and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability and security.
• Design and document system, solution and service-oriented architectures, including cloud, virtualised and microservices-based environments.
• Advise on infrastructure and applications spanning AWS, Azure, Windows, Linux, UNIX, VMware, ESXi and Kubernetes.
• Support systems engineering, administration, integration, debugging and delivery through the SDLC, DevOps and continuous integration practices.
• Help develop and connect databases, APIs and web services, using appropriate platforms, languages and tools.

Skills

• Strong IT consulting foundations, with knowledge of computer networking, operating systems, system architecture, system design, information security, load balancing, VPN, firewall, DHCP and DNS.
• Experience with cloud and infrastructure technologies such as AWS, Azure, VMware, ESXi, virtualisation and Kubernetes is useful.
• Relevant database knowledge may include SQL, NoSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL and PL/SQL.
• Familiarity with programming, scripting and development tools is welcome: Python, Java, JavaScript, C, C++, C#,.NET, Ruby on Rails, VBA, Simulink, Bash (Unix shell), shell scripting, Git and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of REST, SOAP, XML, APIs, web services, OOP, Salesforce and Pegasystems can support a broad range of client projects.

Pay: £39,000.00-£54,000.00 per year
