Position Summary

DataMax Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated IT Deployment Project Manager to join our team in Northbrook, Illinois.

This position is responsible for leading technical deployment projects from initial planning and scope development through pilot, execution, and field implementation. The ideal candidate combines strong project management capabilities with hands-on knowledge of IT infrastructure and field deployment environments.

This is not simply a desk-based project management position. The successful candidate will understand how technology is deployed in the field and will be comfortable working with customers, technical teams, contractors, and field resources to ensure projects are properly scoped, planned, priced, and executed.

Experience with technologies such as Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, networking equipment, servers, rack-and-stack installations, Access control and CCTV and low-voltage infrastructure is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in all phases of technical project lifecycles, from initial planning through successful implementation.
• Develop project plans, deployment strategies, schedules, and implementation requirements.
• Manage and coordinate technical field implementation activities.
• Develop clear and comprehensive technical Scopes of Work (SOWs) .
• Participate in on-site pilots, site assessments, and technical discovery.
• Assist with project pricing and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with external contractors and field service personnel to ensure successful execution.
• Serve as a technical resource for customers, internal teams, and field personnel throughout the deployment process.
• Help ensure IT infrastructure and deployed technology function effectively and meet project requirements.
• Identify project risks, technical challenges, and implementation issues and work proactively to resolve them.
• Maintain strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders regarding project status, requirements, issues, and deliverables.
• Provide technical support and expertise related to IT deployments.
• Maintain a strong customer focus and sense of urgency throughout each project.
• Travel occasionally to customer locations for site assessments, scope development, project collaboration, pilot implementations, and technical training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of IT field, technical deployment, or related project experience .
• Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing technical implementation projects.
• Experience working with external contractors, field technicians, or contracted technical resources is required.
• Strong working knowledge of IT infrastructure and field deployment environments.
• Working knowledge of several of the following is strongly preferred:
• POS hardware and systems
• Networking equipment
• Servers
• Access Control and CCTV
• Rack-and-stack installations
• Low-voltage infrastructure
• Retail technology deployments
• Ability to translate customer and technical requirements into clear scopes of work and implementation plans.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business applications.
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally based on customer and project requirements.

What Success Looks Like

The successful IT Deployment Project Manager will be able to take a customer deployment from concept to completion—understanding the technical requirements, developing an effective implementation plan, coordinating the appropriate resources, anticipating potential issues, and ensuring that the project is executed successfully in the field.

The right individual will bring together technical knowledge, project management, customer communication, Documentation development and field execution to deliver a consistently high level of service to DataMax customers.
