About the Role
Noble County Government is seeking a hands-on IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Specialist to help keep county technology secure, reliable, and responsive. Reporting to the CIO/CTO, you will support county departments through systems administration, endpoint support, cloud and identity management, cybersecurity operations, and advanced end-user service.
This is an opportunity to work across a broad hybrid environment—including Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft 365 and Azure, networking, communications, endpoints, backups, and security tools—and to make a visible impact on essential public services.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and support county IT infrastructure, including servers, endpoints, cloud services, backups, storage, and business applications.
- Monitor system availability, performance, security, and recoverability; perform patching, troubleshooting, backup verification, recovery, and operational documentation.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, user accounts, licensing, Group Policy, role-based access, and multi-factor authentication.
- Assist with troubleshooting network and connectivity issues involving DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi, firewalls, VPNs, WANs, VoIP, and related services.
- Support cybersecurity operations through endpoint protection, EDR/MDR tools, vulnerability remediation, secure configurations, logging, email security, incident response, and network-segmentation practices.
- Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 technical support for workstations, mobile devices, printers, remote access, collaboration tools, conferencing, and business applications.
- Work with county employees, departments, vendors, and the CIO/CTO to prioritize requests, communicate progress, and resolve issues effectively.
- Support technology practices related to applicable security, privacy, records retention, and compliance requirements, including CJIS, HIPAA, and APRA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in IT operations, systems administration, infrastructure support, or a related role in an enterprise or multi-site environment.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux administration, virtualization, backup and recovery, networking, endpoint support, and cloud or hybrid services.
- Experience providing professional, customer-focused technical support and documenting service requests and resolutions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with technical colleagues, end users, department leaders, and vendors.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, Entra ID, Active Directory, cloud backup, SaaS platforms, or hybrid identity environments.
- Experience administering Linux server environments, including Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, or Debian.
- Experience with EDR/MDR, vulnerability management, security monitoring, phishing defense, identity protection, incident response, or secure-access controls.
- Experience in government, public safety, healthcare, or another regulated environment.
- Familiarity with CJIS, HIPAA, public-records retention, or similar security and privacy requirements.
- Relevant certifications such as Security+, Network+, CySA+, Linux+, RHCSA, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, or comparable infrastructure and cybersecurity credentials.
Work Environment and Schedule
- Onsite schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Occasional after-hours availability may be required for critical incidents, maintenance windows, or service interruptions.
- Benefits include PTO and holidays; employer-subsidized health, life, vision, and dental insurance; retirement plan; and a flexible work environment.
- Compensation is competitive and based on qualifications and experience.
- Employment is contingent on a criminal background check.
