As we continue to grow, we're investing in technology, systems and processes to improve productivity, streamline operations and enhance customer experience.

We're seeking an experienced, hands-on IT & Systems Manager to lead our technology function and help drive the next phase of our business growth. We value work-life balance and are open to discussing flexible working hours to help you balance your professional and personal commitments.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll oversee IT operations, infrastructure, cyber security, business systems and technical product support.

This diverse role combines hands-on technical expertise with software development oversight, systems integration and continuous improvement. You'll play a key role in simplifying our technology environment, reducing manual processes and supporting the ongoing development of our personal alarm technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Operations: Manage infrastructure, networks, hardware, software, communication systems and day-to-day technical support.
  • Software & Product Development: Support backend systems, databases, application development, testing, software releases and ongoing product maintenance.
  • Systems & Automation: Lead technology upgrades, system integrations and process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Cyber Security: Maintain security controls, data protection, backups, disaster recovery and system reliability.
  • Technology Leadership: Work closely with the MD, employees and external providers to implement improvements, manage change and support staff training.

About You

We're looking for a confident, capable and approachable IT professional who combines strong technical knowledge with practical problem-solving and excellent people skills.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in IT management, systems administration or a senior technical role.
  • Strong AWS knowledge, particularly EC2 and VPC.
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React Native and MongoDB.
  • Understanding of backend development, database management and server maintenance.
  • Experience managing software development lifecycles, testing, formal releases and production deployments.
  • Knowledge of cyber security, business systems integration and process automation.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting and organisational skills.

Highly Regarded

  • Android Studio, Kotlin and Wear OS experience.
  • Experience with wearable technology, connected devices or IoT products.
  • Experience implementing CRM systems and business process automation.

The Person We're Looking For

Technical ability is essential, but so is your approach to people.

You'll be confident, patient, approachable and collaborative, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly, support employees and work closely with leadership.

You'll take ownership, show initiative and actively seek smarter, more efficient ways of working.

Why Join Guardian?

  • Lead and influence technology decisions in a growing Australian business.
  • Work directly with the Managing Director on technology strategy and innovation.
  • Drive meaningful improvements to products, systems and business operations.
  • Work-life balance matters – we're open to discussing flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle and commitments.
  • Enjoy a varied, hands-on role with genuine ownership and autonomy.
  • Join a supportive team guided by our values of Empathy, Respect, Innovation, Collaboration and Gratitude.
