What they need

The D. E. Shaw group is a global investment and technology development firm with more than $100 billion in investment capital as of June 1, 2026, and offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. Since our founding in 1988, our firm has earned an international reputation for successful investing based on innovation, careful risk management, and the quality and depth of our staff. We have a significant presence in the world's capital markets, investing in a wide range of companies and financial instruments in both developed and developing economies.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to join the Systems team at D. E. Shaw India, based in Hyderabad. This role will lead the Voice and Video Engineering (VVE), Data Center (DC), and IT Finance functions, with a primary focus on implementing and optimizing operational processes across these areas. You will be responsible for developing and monitoring key performance metrics to maintain high service quality, managing effective incident response to ensure business continuity, and overseeing vendor relationships and external service providers to enhance service levels. The role will involve close collaboration with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Helpdesk teams in India and NYC to streamline global operations and manage stakeholders effectively. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication, project management, and systems expertise, along with proven people management skills, to drive operational excellence and foster collaboration across a global, cross-functional technology environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: In this role, you will oversee operational performance, ensuring that all parameters and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met across the Data Center, AV & UC (VVE), and IT Finance teams, while continuously evaluating and enhancing workflows and output. You will manage day-to-day data center operations, including STPI/SEZ compliance, inventory and budget control, vendor and contract management, and driving improvement initiatives. You will also partner with the global AV team to deliver user-friendly, cutting-edge audiovisual solutions aligned with evolving business needs, event management, and manage global UC operations, handling daily tasks and serving as the primary escalation point for issues. Additionally, you will define, monitor, and report metrics across teams to drive performance improvements and maintain quality standards, while working closely with global engineering, project, and support teams to resolve operational bottlenecks and align infrastructure operations with business objectives. Furthermore, you will identify process gaps, recommend and implement improvements, establish documentation standards, and drive automation to optimize efficiency wherever possible.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: The ideal candidate should hold-

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 12–15 years of relevant experience in IT operations, infrastructure management, or related roles, preferably within large, global organizations
  • Proven experience in handling AV for large-scale and custom events
  • Proven experience leading operations for core IT functions, such as data center and AV
  • Expertise in project management and IT service management, including budgeting and planning
  • Exceptional people management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with global teams, senior engineering stakeholders, and vendors
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Industry certifications in ITIL, PMP, or related fields
