We’re seeking a motivated, organized college student to join our Information Technology Project Management Office (PMO) as a Spring Project Intern. Based on-site at our West Park Corporate Office in Birmingham, this part-time internship (up to 20 hours per week) runs January 25 – April 23, 2027, and offers hands-on experience supporting a live IT implementation from readiness through closeout.

  • Position: IT PMO Project Intern – Spring 2027

  • Department: Information Technology – Project Management Office (PMO)

  • Location: Birmingham, AL – West Park Corporate Office (on-site)

  • Position Type: Part-time intern, up to 20 hours per week

  • Pay: $17 per hour

Role Summary

The IT PMO Project Intern supports the IT project team in delivering a key implementation: our Hermes Warehouse Management System, built on Manhattan SCALE. Working alongside an IT Project Manager, the intern will help complete final implementation readiness and prepare the project for closeout, making sure open items are tracked to resolution, documentation is complete and ready for handoff, and lessons learned are captured for future initiatives. This role is ideal for a curious, detail-oriented student who wants real-world exposure to how IT projects are planned, managed, and brought across the finish line in a fast-paced retail organization.

Role Responsibilities

Implementation Readiness & Closeout

  • Support final implementation readiness for the Hermes WMS, helping track open items, testing progress, and go-live readiness tasks to resolution or a named owner.

  • Prepare and populate the project closeout checklist, including gathering final deliverables and confirming completion of tasks.

  • Assist with and document the transition of the project’s monday.com board to Archive.

  • Conduct Lessons Learned sessions with each participating department and prepare a report with action items.

Project Coordination & Documentation

  • Build and maintain an organized, indexed project documentation repository that is ready for handoff.

  • Maintain tasks, timelines, and status updates in monday.com, our project management tool.

  • Prepare and update project trackers, spreadsheets, meeting notes, and status reports.

  • Help identify roadblocks, risks, or missed deadlines and raise them to the project manager.

Team Collaboration & Learning

  • Participate in team huddles three mornings a week to align on goals and priorities.

  • Join collaboration and brainstorming sessions with the IT team and business partners.

  • Use AI tools in a hands-on way to support research, documentation, and day-to-day project work.

  • Communicate with team members and stakeholders through Microsoft Teams and Outlook.

  • Deliver a final presentation summarizing readiness and closeout status, lessons learned, and recommendations for future implementations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Role Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Rising junior or rising senior at an accredited college or university.

  • Pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and comfort using Outlook and Microsoft Teams.

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in IT project management or business operations.

  • Coursework or experience with project management concepts such as Agile or Waterfall.

  • Familiarity with monday.com or another project management tool.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Program Length: January 25 – April 23, 2027.

  • Schedule: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week, on-site at the West Park Corporate Office.

  • Team Rhythm: Morning huddles three days a week, with most time spent working through project tasks and collaboration sessions.

  • Equipment: Company laptop provided; Microsoft Teams used for calls and communication.

  • Mentorship: Work directly with an IT Project Manager and the IT PMO team.

  • Capstone: A final presentation on readiness and closeout status, lessons learned, and recommendations for future implementations.

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit at a desk or computer for extended periods and use a keyboard and telephone; must be able to communicate effectively using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive devices.
