IT Product Portfolio Manager

A global specialty-insurance organization is seeking a senior product leader to drive a large-scale transformation of its underwriting technology ecosystem.

This individual will own a holistic view of the submission-to-bind underwriting journey and establish the strategy connecting digital underwriting experiences, workflow, policy administration, rating, data, integrations, and emerging AI capabilities.

The position requires someone who has previously transformed underwriting environments at meaningful scale. The successful candidate will partner with senior underwriting and technology leaders to define the future-state experience, establish product priorities, and translate strategy into measurable improvements across the complete underwriting lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Define and lead the enterprise product strategy for global underwriting technology
• Own the product portfolio and roadmap across the submission-to-bind lifecycle
• Drive modernization of underwriting workbench and workstation capabilities
• Connect submission intake, risk evaluation, pricing, quoting, and binding workflows
• Establish an integrated strategy across policy administration, rating, workflow, data, APIs, and supporting platforms
• Identify practical opportunities to use AI and advanced analytics for risk selection, pricing, productivity, and decision support
• Prioritize investments based on underwriting value, operational improvement, user experience, and enterprise strategy
• Lead transformation across multiple business lines, regions, and technology platforms
• Partner with underwriting, technology, architecture, data, operations, compliance, and vendor stakeholders
• Evaluate build-versus-buy and consolidation-versus-integration decisions
• Lead change management and adoption of new underwriting capabilities
• Track measurable business, user, and operational outcomes
• Present strategy, progress, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior leadership
• Ensure individual systems contribute to a consistent front-to-back underwriting experience

Role Requirements:

• At least 10 years of experience across insurance technology, underwriting products, enterprise product management, or related disciplines
• Deep understanding of commercial P&C or specialty-insurance underwriting
• Strong knowledge of the end-to-end submission-to-bind lifecycle
• Proven ownership of a significant underwriting technology transformation
• Experience implementing or modernizing underwriting workbenches or workstations
• Experience with policy-administration systems
• Experience with rating engines or rating capabilities
• Ability to connect multiple platforms into an integrated underwriting ecosystem
• Experience incorporating AI, advanced analytics, or data-enabled capabilities into underwriting
• Product strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and investment-management experience
• Experience operating across multiple business lines, regions, or complex organizations
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to balance long-term transformation strategy with practical delivery
• Ability to work onsite in the New York/New Jersey area four days per week
• Willingness to travel as required
