Job Description:

The IT Server Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, security, and overall reliability of the organization’s server infrastructure. This role ensures optimal server performance, high availability, data protection, and compliance with security standards. The IT Server Administrator works closely with internal IT teams to support business-critical applications, data storage, and network services, with strong emphasis on system stability, security, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Server Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and related components.
• Monitor server health, performance, and availability to ensure minimal downtime.
• Manage server user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Assist in server upgrades, expansions, and capacity planning initiatives.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless server operations.

2. System Monitoring & Performance

• Monitor system resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk, network).
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Respond promptly to system alerts and notifications.
• Generate and maintain system performance and utilization reports.
• Implement proactive measures to improve system efficiency and reliability.

3. System Security

• Implement and enforce server security policies and procedures.
• Perform regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and system hardening.
• Configure and maintain security tools such as firewalls and antivirus solutions.
• Apply regular OS updates, patches, and security fixes.
• Monitor for security incidents and respond to breaches in a timely manner.
• Promote and educate users on system security best practices.

4. System Troubleshooting & Support

• Diagnose and resolve server hardware, OS, and application-related issues.
• Identify root causes of system errors and failures.
• Coordinate with vendors for technical support and hardware repairs.
• Provide system-related user support as needed.
• Document issues, resolutions, and standard troubleshooting procedures.

5. Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Perform regular system and data backups according to defined schedules.
• Test and validate backup integrity and restoration procedures.
• Ensure secure storage and proper retention of backup data.
• Develop, maintain, and execute disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Coordinate recovery activities during system failures or emergencies.

6. System Documentation

• Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation.
• Update documentation following system changes, upgrades, or incidents.
• Ensure documentation is well-organized, accessible, and aligned with IT standards.
• Assist in developing system standards, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant IT or server administration experience (preferably in a banking or financial institution).
• Open to new graduates with strong foundational knowledge and relevant technical exposure.
• Strong knowledge of server operating systems
• Experience in server monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with system security, patch management, and access controls.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
