IT Specialist (Data Centre Operations)

About the role

Support the Assistant Manager, IT Operations in the day-to-day oversight of all ITD-hosted services and facilities in Data & Operation Centers.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Assistant Manager, IT Operations in the day-to-day oversight of all ITD-hosted services and facilities
• Manage the inventory and documentation of newly acquired Communications Rooms / Cupboards (CRs/CCs)
• Act as the on-site liaison with Technical Services Infrastructure (MEP support teams) to coordinate and resolve incidents related to Fire Services systems, UPS systems, power supply, and cooling systems within hosting facilities
• Manage access control for works activities and the ingress or egress of equipment within CR/CC areas, ensuring inventory records and operational dashboards are accurately maintained and updated
• Maintain and update CR/CC room layout plans, rack layouts, rack space utilisation records, and rack usage inventories in coordination with ITPTW Administration
• Generate routine performance reports for hosting facilities and compile capacity planning reports
• Perform cabinet housekeeping and maintenance activities, including cleaning, data cable management, and power cable management for CRs, CCs, and Field Enclosures outside normal office hours
• Provide 24×7 operational and production support when required, including during adverse weather conditions and other emergency or business-critical situations

About you

• Holder of a Certificate, Higher Certificate, or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
• At least five years' relevant experience supporting enterprise or institutional colocation data centres or operations centres
• Familiarity with incident management processes would be advantageous
• Proven track record in managing colocation data centre access control and coordinating maintenance activities, including planning and execution
• Knowledge and practical experience in day-to-day data centre infrastructure operations and maintenance (O&M), encompassing scheduled drill planning, fault handling, and emergency response procedures
• Experience in collecting, managing, and maintaining asset inventory
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with system support software tools and hand tools
• English writing skills and Putonghua verbal communication skills
• Holder of a valid Hong Kong driving licence is preferably
